Abstract

India has long recognized equality and dignity as core constitutional values. The Constitution guarantees justice—social, economic, and political—to all citizens and provides a strong legal foundation for gender equality. Gender Justice under the Constitution of India examines the constitutional vision of gender justice and analyzes how fundamental rights, directive principles, and judicial interpretations have contributed to the protection and empowerment of women and marginalized genders in Indian society.

The book explores key constitutional provisions such as Articles 14, 15, 16, 19, and 21, which ensure equality before law, prohibit discrimination, and safeguard personal liberty and dignity. It also discusses affirmative measures under Articles 15(3) and 39 that promote women’s welfare and equal participation in public life.
